Farewell to our President

After five outstanding years as President of Sharks FC, Tony Davies has decided to hang up his Sharks hat.  Tony was a visionary – who every step of the way, showed complete and tireless dedication, service & commitment to our Club. Nothing was ever 'too big' to do for our club and – as in his words, “All for the kids & the love of the game”. Tony’s passion for and commitment to the Sharks has been a huge asset and he leaves Sharks FC on a strong footing for the future. Thank you, Tony and your lovely family.

We would also like to say thank you to the outgoing committee members and admin of Sharks FC - Dennis Cornwell, Vaughan English and Josephine Ong - your significant contributions to Sharks FC have assisted in setting a strong foundation for future years. We thank you for your genuine commitment and service to the Club and you will all be missed.

Call for new Committee Members

2017 has been a positive and energetic year for the Singapore Sharks AFL Club. We are calling for expressions of interest from our members to join the Committee or lead the club as President. If you are keen to help out and be part of the Sharks FC committee, please email sharksfc@ais.com.sg

Friday Night ‘Under Lights’ a Huge Hit

Another fantastic night under lights enjoyed by all our Auskickers & spectators alike.  The evening had the kids playing in a ‘Round Robin’ setup with the highlight of the night

having Sam Kekovich – VFL/AFL Hall of Fame there to inspire the kids!  A big thank you to the Australian International School who co-sponsored the evening with the Sharks AFL

as well as our partners, The Rotisserie, Cliftons, Cockies and Treasury Wine Estate, who yet again supplied the best Burgers in Singapore, softies and wines & beers for all to enjoy.

Additionl thanks to all who helped out to make it the success it was. ‘Footy Under Lights’ will definitely be part of the calendar next year!

Sharks First Aid Officers Onsite

Hong Kong & Bali Master’s Tours June 10/11

Have a fabulous trip & bring back the winning Trophies. GO SHARKS!

Thank You

As we draw the curtain on the 2017 season, we would like to pay a special thank you to all involved for putting on a ‘cracker’ of an Auskick Sharks Season yet again.  It goes without saying that so many contribute to the fabulous club we have and Sharks FC running for 10 years shows how well-supported it is.  Thank you to all our BBQ volunteers and Coaches/Assistant Coaches & Mums & Dads who help out week in and week out. Thank you to all our volunteers  on tours, social nights -  we couldn’t do it without such great support.  A big thank you to our generous sponsors whose logos you see here on our newsletter & uniforms, you help us to continue to be one of the most ‘affordable’ kids sports programmes in Singapore – ‘All for the kids’ it definitely is!

From the Oval

Friday Nights Under Lights was again awesome. What better way is there to award our last Shark of the Month for 2017 under lights but also presented by VFL/AFL Hall of Famer Sam Kekovich. Sam had some impressive words of wisdom for the Auskickers and reiterated that we all start somewhere and if we work hard enough, we can achieve our dreams of playing at the elite level. Auskickers turned out in huge numbers on Friday evening and we were able to run a round robin in age groups. By the time the U11s hit the hallowed turf, we had three age groups running around in the same game! The older kids in the U13s did not disappoint with a hard fought battle across the full pitch with some outstanding individual efforts but what was more pleasing, was the increase in confidence, skills and quality of matches. I’m very excited for the Lightning Rounds given this quality of football across all ages.

Overall, it was a great night and a huge success. With the end of the season on Saturday, I encourage all Auskickers to be on time and make the most of this session. The football development has been very impressive to watch and as a coach, very satisfying. Having AFL players again comment on the standard of our programhas been wonderful and a real testament to the effort from our coaches, parents and obviously the Auskickers.

Coach Murph

Shark of the Month

Congratulations to all of our Shark of the Month awardees. Coaches take this initiative very seriously and award those Auskickers who are continuing to strive and show all the attributes of being a Sharks Footballer; Being a great teammate, showing outstanding sportsmanship and continuing to demonstrate commitment and attitude to improving their game.

Shark of the Month for May - Congratulations to the following players!

U7  – Sawyer Whelan
U9 – Ziggy Kamal Heywood
U11 - Max Newman
U13 - Louis Young

From the Gym

Or should I say from the Oval? The U5s and U6s got a chance to play our great game under the bright lights on Friday night! To get things started, the kids and coaches ran a big lap of the oval before moving into smaller groups and getting into some quick skill drills. Next we started our game! Due to the limited time and space, we had the U5 & U6s mixed in together and attempted 4 quick games. There was a fantastic level of skill on display and it was great to see the players implementing the skills they have been learning throughout the year in a game situation. An enjoyable evening was had by all the players and there will be a big push to have more of these nights next season!

Cheers, Coach Stevo

Until next year (or Lightning Rounds), looking forward to great footy.
