What a phenomenal lead up to our final 2 weeks of our Sharks Training for the Season it has been...  Our Auskickers had the opportunity to train with AFWL

Great – Nicola Barr – the kids were able to pick up some great midfielders pointers and were shown how to be a targeted kicker from one of AFLW’s best.

The kids then had the rare opportunity to play a game with such an AFL professional, this went down with our Sharks as ‘simply the best’.

A fantastic inspiring session for all our age groups, well enjoyed by the kids, parents and very much so by Nicola.

We would like to extend a big Thank you to Nicola for sparing her time to visit us in Singapore & of course, all our sponsors who without their support ,these special guest events wouldn’t be possible. Check out Sharks FB page for all the action shots of Nicola Barr @ Shark Park.

Shanghai Tour

A fantastic weekend of awesome footy was had by all.  Sharks had around 13 players travel to Shanghai for the tour to be part of AFL history, sharing in the excitement of the game between Port Power vs Brisbane Lions.  Our Sharks were lucky enough to join the ‘Guard of Honour’ for Port Power entering the field and teaming up with our HK buddies for some great matches in the Asia AFL Cup.  To top off a fabulous weekend -  our U9s Shark – Zac Stewart was interviewed live on TV for winning the NAB Auskicker of the Year Nominee for Round 8 – well done Zac – you made the Sharks proud!  Check out of our FB page for some shots of the Footy Fever weekend.

Hong Kong Tour June 10/11

HK Dragons…here we come!  In a little over 2 weeks, we have 40+ Sharks heading to Hong Kong for our annual Auskick Inter-Asia AFL tournament.  We have teams ready for the U8s, U9s U11s & U13s games.  It’s never too late to grab your boots and come along.  This is a fantastic tour that is now in our 3rd year of competition and with the great bond we have with the HK team, it will be a fun footy weekend.  If you are would like to come along, please email your child’s name & age group to sharksfc@ais.com.sg Games start on Saturday with a team BBQ Saturday night.  Let’s cheer on the Sharks to bring back the Trophy for 2017!  Details will be emailed to those attending on clarification of Tournament start times and bus schedules.  GO SHARKS!

Bali Masters Last Call

A big weekend for the Sharks on 10&11 June with the Bali Masters running alongside our Hong Kong Tour.  Any keen takers for last minute registrations – please email sharksfc@ais.com.sg   GO SHARKS, we’re hoping to see 2 x shiny Trophies in our cabinet after this weekend!

From the Oval

It was great to get back into skills and extended game play this week after a historic visit to Shanghai and as we put the final preparations into place for the end of year Hong Kong Tournament and Lightning Rounds. The sun was blistering on Saturday so it was a challenging day but across all age groups, the Auskickers were enthusiastic and determined. Thanks to all coaches who continually brave the heat and give the time to the Auskickers. It is this commitment that sees the continued improvement with all groups.

Across all age groups, we spoke about the way we train is the way we play games so our effort is pivotal. This will be the key element in the coming weeks when we venture to Hong Kong and begin our Lightning Rounds.  As we wind up the season, we are still seeing kids without mouthguards. Please remember “NO mouthguard, NO play!”

See you on Friday for a night under lights.

From the Gym

Over the last 3 weeks, the U6s have taken part in their own friendly competition of modified AFL while also sharping their individual skills on the stations that they have become familiar with. The 8-a-side modified game tries to apply the rule of possession football – if it’s in your hands, it’s your ball to kick or handball without interference. There has been a fantastic level of skill on display and it’s great to see the players implementing the skills they have been learning throughout the year in a ‘real life’ game. The U5s have been applying the skills of kicking, handballing, marking and spatial movement together to achieve an outcome, mainly through a target of some sort. Again, the players are demonstrating improved skill as they continue to combine gross and fundamental motor skills together.

All in all the kids are having a blast trying to kick goals and take big marks at every opportunity they get! The improvement the kids have shown this season has been huge and a joy to see.

A big thanks once again to all the coaches and parents that have helped out this season, it makes a huge difference to kids and makes the program run smoothly & we couldn’t do it without the helping hand.

Cheers, Coach Stevo
